Uplift the Spirits of Children Living with Mental Illness

Half of all children in the U.S. will have a diagnosable mental illness marked by anxiety, depression, challenges with family or school, substance abuse, aggressive behaviors, or self-harm by their 18th birthday.

When children and teens here in San Diego are facing the challenges of serious mental illness, their families turn to Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital for the care and healing that will allow them to look forward to the promise of a brighter future.

The compassionate caregivers at the Sharp Mesa Vista Child and Adolescent Unit help patients ages five to 17 regain stability and hope. Most days out of the year, all 21 beds in the unit are full. Not-for-profit Sharp Mesa Vista began serving children in our community more than 30 years ago, and the unit's interior has not been updated since.

Price Philanthropies is collaborating with Sharp Mesa Vista to revitalize the unit and create an improved healing environment of safety and beauty for compassionate care to take place, granting more than $1 million to the project. The grant includes a $400,000 matching gift challenge to generate further community collaboration and multiply donors' impact.

When you make a donation to support the Child and Adolescent Unit renovation between now and Sept. 30, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar — doubling the positive impact you will have on children, adolescents and their families.

Thank you for helping Sharp Mesa Vista and its caregivers restore hope to the young patients who need it most.
